The best of all worlds!
Want to learn Karate for self defence AND sports/competitions whilst getting fit and having fun?
At Hampshire Self Protection we teach Karate for sporting, competitive and practical Self Protection purposes suitable to student age and level of experience. We are members of the British Combat Association (B.C.A), and its Karate faction, the British Combat Karate Association (B.C.K.A) allowing us to teach and train in both areas of realistic and practical martial arts coupled with the sporting, competitive side through our affiliation with the English Karate Federation (E.K.F) recognised by the World Karate Federation (W.K.F)
Its not what you do, its how you do it!
Our classes are taught in a safe, fun way and incorporate all the traditional aspects of Karate such as Kihon (basics), Kata (pre-arranged series of Karate techniques) and Kumite (sparring) in a way suitable for Sport and Self Protection relevant to student age. You will be told when a technique is purely for the purposes of sport, when it is just for Self Protection/Defence and when it is suitable for both, so you are in no doubt as to what you are learning and why.
Families - Why not train together?
With classes for all members of the family (5yrs+) and family discounts available (please ask for details) why not join or train together? If your class is not currently running you are very welcome to stay and watch your family member train while you wait for your class to start and don't forget when children reach Senior school age, and often tend to spend less family time with you, you can train alongside them in the 11+ class and spend a bit of quality family time learning a new and possibly life saving skill together?
Peace of mind
When students reach the relevant ability and grade to begin sparring it will be under careful supervision by a fully qualified, first aid trained Instructor. Injuries are rare as heavy contact is not allowed. We expect our students to respect and help each other learn (ego's are not welcome in our club) and full protective clothing and equipment, which needs to be approved by your Instructor, must be worn."
